- The outdoor antenna should be mounted with the polarization arrow pointing up.
- The antenna should face one of PMLDnet.com’s cell-extenders (tall utility poles).
- Orient the antenna so that you receive the highest possible signal strength on the radio modem. Look for at least two (2) of the low, med and high LED’s to light up.
- Generally speaking, the higher the antenna is mounted, the better the signal strength.
- The Alvarion radio modem can be mounted indoors, in the attic, cellar or any other room with access to a standard 120 VAC outlet.
- The radio modem is connected to the antenna using the LMR-400 coax cable and connectors.
- Do not bend the coax cable excessively — not tighter than a 6” radius.
- You can connect you computer, wireless router, router or hub directly to the Alvarion radio modem using an RJ45 Cat5 Ethernet connection or cord.
- A wireless router may eliminate the need for additional telecommunication wiring in your home or business and provide Internet access to multiple computers.
- Contact Customer Service to
contact a local, home networking technician to provide assistance.
- Linksys.com provides guidance
for installing a home WiFi network.
- The Linksys Wireless-G Broadband
Router Model WRT54G is a good choice. Many subscribers have also used Netgear routers, but, we have experienced some difficulty in setting up Belkin routers.
- You can connect a
nearby PC to the router with an Ethernet cable. Otherwise the
PC must be
equipped with a Wireless Adapter (usually built into laptop PCs)..
- PMLDnet.com recommends that you use the same manufacturer for your wireless router, your desktop wireless USB device, desktop wireless PCI
adapter card or laptop wireless card.
- Make sure that you
select "Automatic-Configuration
DHCP" for your
Internet Connection Type. Other choices may interfere with the
operation of the PMLDnet.com network,
- We strongly we recommend the installation of
a good quality
surge suppressor to protect the modem and router electronics.
